I forgot to mention it at the time, but when I posted my RotoHog draft day bargains I excluded players priced at $1. The reason being that many of them had astronomical pts/$ (obviously), but still didn’t represent much value.
However, there are a small handful of players priced at $1 with some decent potential. The following are the players on RotoHog priced at $1 who I project to score at least 50 fantasy points. If you haven’t yet drafted, a couple of these guys are must grabs, and if you have drafted then look to snatch them up as fast as you can Tuesday morning. Here they are:
Nick Folk (K) – DAL – Folk is locked in a battle with Gramatica to win the role as the team’s starting kicker. He’s been perfect in the preseason including a 52-yarder. If he starts in Dallas he’ll be worth well over $10 immediately. Better to buy now and see if he gets the job than miss out on some nice gains.
Mason Crosby (K) – GB – Another rookie kicker in a position battle, Crosby looks like the very narrow favorite to win this one. Definitely worth a buy at this point.
Jacoby Jones (WR) – HOU – If you’ve had a traditional draft this year you’ve probably seen this guy taken. He seems to be everyone’s favorite sleeper pick. Kubiak has stated that Jones is still the #3, but he has looked electric in the preseason and even as a #3 he’s worth a look at $1. Add in the big upside, and Jones is a must-have.
Roydell Williams (WR) – TEN – The Titans have a glut of WRs competing for time right now, but Roydell has looked excellent so far and it would not be a shock if he were rewarded for it. Roydell might be my favorite of the $1 WRs.
Keary Colbert (WR) – CAR – Dwayne Jarrett is probably the favorite to win out as #2 in Carolina, but Colbert has looked good and has a great chance to steal the job.
Kevin Walter (WR) – HOU – He doesn’t come with all the hype of Jacoby, but beyond that he’s basically on equal footing. One will be the starter, one will not. Buy both and you’re looking good either way.
David Patten (WR) – NO – There’s been talk of Patten taking over Devery Henderson’s role as the #2 due to Henderson’s injury. However, I think a more realistic outlook is Patten in the slot. Still easily worth a look here.
The first 3 on this list are must haves, but all of these guys are bound to go up. At $1 each you’ve got little to lose and a lot of room to gain. Just remember RotoHog has instituted a 50 cent fee (RH$ not real dollars) on all trades, so the first dollar you gain on these guys will go to fees, but the rest is pure profit.
Check back tomorrow for a look at the top values under $10. There are some gems there as well.
