I’m sure most of you already have these memorized by this point in the week, but in case you need one final review. Here are the teams as I have them.

Playing All Out – These are the teams that are in the playoff hunt, but haven’t secured a spot
Tennessee
Washington
Minnesota
New Orleans

The games are timed such that none of these teams will be eliminated before they start playing.

Positioning – These teams are in, but their seeds are not set
San Diego
Pittsburgh

Resting – These teams have are in the playoffs and their seeds are set
New England
Indianopolis
Jacksonville
Dallas
Green Bay
Seattle
Tampa Bay
New York Giants

Cleveland is a special case because their playoff fate is up on the air, but is controlled completely by the Titans (unless the Titans tie).

Obviously the first group is best. Next would be either the 2nd group or teams that are eliminated (they don’t have to worry nearly as much about avoiding injuries). Last, obviously, is the “resting” group though there obviously are still good plays from those games.

3 more weeks! I’m legitimately starting to stress out about this a little bit. I’m actually in the middle of a huge gap between 4th and 6th place though (25 points each way), so I may have trouble moving too much in either direction.

The spreadsheet this week includes a “JJBI” column. This is, of course, the JibJab Bargain Index. I’m still tweaking it, but it’s a super simple formula that tries to approximate the “value” of each player given his current price. I think it should provide a pretty good tool for identifying some good options at different price levels as well as identifying which guys probably won’t live up to their cost this week.

I know some of you prefer pictures over boring spreadsheets, so here are snapshots of my top players at each position pulled straight from the file.

First, congratulations to Lothar for his new weekly spot. I couldn’t be more thrilled to have him on the main page. I hope to add more content from you guys as time goes on. Certainly Lothar is just one of the many great contributors to the discussions here.

Oh yeah, one other piece of news. I’ll soon be relocating from my cozy Kansas abode to the paved paradise of Los Angeles. I will be accepting a position with Rotohog in mid-January. Obviously this is a dream job, and I’m extremely excited about it. When I first took up Rotohog baseball I remember joking to my friends that I was going to go win their $100,000 and then ask them to give me a job. It didn’t play out quite like that but it’s crazy to think of all that’s happened between then and now leading up to this.

For those conspiracy theorists out there (someone please refresh my memory on the name of that guy from the RH forums early on), I have had no affiliation with Rotohog up to this point, nor will I have any until after football season concludes. As excited as I am about this job, I wasn’t really interested in putting this year’s potential winnings in jeopardy.

Anyway, I also want to take this time to give a thanks to all of you who have built this site into a community this season. By myself I could never compete with the level of information you guys are putting together each week, and it’s been a blast getting to know you guys. Alright, back to Brady and Romo… Brady and Romo… Brady and Romo.

Turns out football starts at 10 am on the west coast. It’s a strange feeling.

I’m not sure yet if I’ll be around, but worry not, there will be plenty of folks smarter than me at the Game Day Chat. Password, as always, is jibjab.

It seems like there was actually some money to be made on a Tuesday for the first time in a while. Brady and Moss were off to the races as we all expected. I honestly am not sure how they could be up this much today without selling out. I was going to have you guys vote for a Tuesday night Super Six Pack, but it seems like most of the big starter options for this week have taken off. Here are the names that got the most mention on my previous post though:

Brady, Croyle, Romo, Roth, Fitz, Westbrook, Chester Taylor, Moss, Heath Miller, Ben Watson

Obviously several of these guys have already risen sharply today. We usually see some bounce back on Wednesday for Tuesday’s big gainers. Though some will bounce back from the bounce back and continue to gain throughout the week.

Anyway, I installed this fancy new poll plug-in in anticipation for today, so I’ll have to come up with some use for it. I will leave you now with a Kansas video:

Hey guys. I’m on the road but I’ll be home in about four hours. The link to the chat is at the top of the page. Rock chalk jayhawk!

I’m debuting a new feature called “Mystery Week” in which there are no updated projections posted on Friday or Saturday. Ok, fine, it’s not really a feature. I’m having some computer issues, so I doubt I’ll be able to get any new numbers put out. Really the biggest changes from Wednesday to Saturday are the prices not the points.

Anyway, I don’t anticipate any snags after this. The Game Day chat will still be going Sunday, the Six Pack will still come out Monday, and everything should be straightened out in time for Week 8’s early projections.

Most of the names at the top of this list should be fairly unsurprising. After getting some more information together I still really like my rough lineup from last night. Carson Palmer and Willie Parker are two popular choices that probably won’t make my lineup but are both ranked #3 at their position in the numbers.

Okay, I got it right this time. The perfect lineups for $350 and $450 budgets don’t include any players going into a bye next week (Kansas City, Atlanta, Seattle, Dallas, Arizona, and Baltimore). The ideal lineup is recommended only for those with $550 plus because it has players headed for a bye.

In case you didn’t notice, the long overdue “team history” page has shown up under the roster tab. That means it’s time to play “Who’s got the most trades?”. My team history is 19 pages. I’m sure someone can beat that.

It looks like it wasn’t just wishful thinking about that top 10 appearance; I managed to sneak into the #6 slot this week. I think the standings a quarter of the way through baseball were much more indicative of the likely winners than the current standings in football, but it’s still nice to have a head start on much of the competition.

It’s been another tough day for making money, but I’ve scraped together about $23 in gains. I’ve also got the 3 sell outs who should net some nice gains throughout the week.

I’m taking credit for Graham since I mentioned him in my post, though I also mentioned Pittman who has been pretty stale. LJ is one that really snuck up on me, but it makes sense given how far down his price had gone. For those who can’t make Tuesday mornings very easily I think we’re getting to the point where you can get by without them. Obviously you’ll miss some gains, but most of my profit last week was from the guys I bought Wednesday afternoon to start for me.

I’ll be out for the early games today I think, but the chat is up and going as always.
