One week down, sixteen to go. I had a pretty lackluster performance to start the year. I sold McNabb late in the week when I decided I could afford Manning. Even worse if I had kept McNabb I was going to be able to afford to replace Rice with Westbrook. Ah well. I’m at 107 points and done.

If you haven’t already, join the Friends of JibJab league. ID is 102747, pw is jibjab. It’s a good way to keep track of how the WP.com readers are doing. Also, there’s now a couple of celebrities in there.

I’m working out who to put in my first Monday Night Six Pack, so feel free to post any suggestions for good buys tomorrow morning. Flacco and Collins are the only 2 that are set so far.

Trying to trim everything I own down to one carload is every bit as daunting as it sounds. I’m off to Miami tomorrow (ORANGE BOWL!), and I have one full day in Lawrence after that before I drive out to LA. All that to say, I probably won’t have time to compile the stats for our group before I go. I will definitely get it done at some point. Just from reading through the posts and emails there are a lot more of us than I realized, and it seems we make up a pretty solid chunk of the top 100.

patlee, I think you’re definitely on to something. Surely out of that top 100 there are a handful that aren’t eligible for whatever reason. I remember we had 2 or 3 of you guys right on the wrong side of the cut off, so hopefully you’ll have some good news coming. We’re all rooting for you.

Since I don’t have any sort of thank you page set up or anything, I want to give a special thanks to Andre (Crunch Bunch) and Richard (what is your team name anyway?) for their generous donations. I appreciate it!

One last time, head over to fantasyfishing.com and use league id: 10011 and password: jibjab. There’s already some good discussion going on over there it looks like. Alright, that’s all I’ve got for now. I’ll be on at some point to post the total winnings for our group, and I’ll also be sure to hop on once I’m out in LA to let you guys know how things are going with the new job.

I stayed up last night to see the new standings. 6th was a disappointment, but it’s definitely hard to complain about. I think I was 5 points away from 5k or something like that. I also feel for the few of you that finished just a hair outside the top 100. Despite all that, I’m thrilled with how well everyone did. I know that if it weren’t for all of you guys I couldn’t possibly have done as well, and it’s great to see how much success we had as a group.

Anyway, thanks for a great season guys. I look forward to seeing you all on the fishing board. Also, as I mentioned before I may be trying to work in some off season research and discussion on this board, so that we can keep that leg up on the rest.

If you haven’t already posted your final standing, go ahead and let us all know. I’m going to start compiling that stuff and will give the final numbers (as best as I can estimate them) tonight or tomorrow.

One last time, find us here, password: jibjab.

Ok, gotta get back to second guessing everything now.

The Rotohog Marathon is in mile 26 after today. I had an alright day. I stuck with Manning over Hasselbeck which paid off, but went with Colston over Wayne. Meh. All told I sit at 112 with Tomlinson left to go. Let us know where you guys stand.

The season is almost over, but I’ve still got plenty of stuff before we close up shop. Lothar will be along with his early early projections soon I’m sure. The projections will be up as always (with the same black outs as the last 2 weeks). Also, I want to encourage you guys to stop in after the season ends for a couple of things.

First, I’m hoping I can get everyone to email me their final place and prize. Basically, anyone who read this site on a regular basis would be included, so if you’re still here at this point in the year you probably qualify. I’m interested in seeing the stats, and the total prize money won by the WP.com community.

Second, I’m not sure what this would look like yet, but I’d love to see us put our heads together on some off-season research. I could list a hundred research projects I’d like to do for baseball, but football is a little less formulaic. Still, I’m sure that we could come up with some interesting ideas to study. Smart trading and good football knowledge got many of us ahead of the pack this year, but they’ll be catching up quickly so it’s important to keep stretching our advantage.

Anyway, that’s all for now. Like I said, check in with your totals, and get set for one last full week of analysis.

If you ever find yourself in Garden City, KS and want people to give you a funny look, just ask them if they have WiFi. It’s a sure bet every time.

I was able to get to a computer at about 11:40am, just enough time to do nothing basically. I wanted to differentiate this week, but couldn’t bring myself to do it with so little time to research. I did go with Colston and Andre Johnson over Wayne and Owens at WR. I almost went with Hasselbeck over Manning, but I didn’t get a chance to check the weather report in depth to see what kind of wind he’d be facing.

Anyway, I’m going to hop into the game day chat (password: jibjab) for just a few minutes and then I’ve got about 6 hours to go before I get home. By the way, if any of you saw pictures of a 30-car pileup in Kansas yesterday that’s where I’m headed. Hopefully conditions will be a little better today. Good luck guys!

Meh

I came in at 114 for this week. Not really too bad in comparison to what many others did. What’s really depressing is how long I debated about putting in Brees and Colston before settling on Brady and Moss.

I’ve gotten pretty good at restricting my regrets. For instance, I started Romo today and he was awful. However, at no point did I consider not starting Romo. Even more importantly, at no point was there every any indication whatsoever that he wouldn’t be a good start. Regardless of the outcome, playing Romo was almost definitely the correct play at the time with the information I had available. I’ve gotten really good at recognizing that and letting it roll right off (I may lose this skill by week 17).

However, the Pats vs Saints question was a little different. There were lots of reasons to consider benching Brady and Moss, and there were lots of times that I questioned the decision. I could easily make a case that I made a bad decision with the information I had available. I’m considerably less adept at getting over decisions like those. Anyway, what’s done is done. Once I see the early early projections I’ll be over it and ready to attack the second to last week of this season.

Good luck guys. Don’t let up!

Hey guys, my internet connection is all sorts of goofy this weekend, so we’ll see if I manage to get this posted. It looks like Anderson saved me from eternal ridicule, phew.

The two sick-to-my-stomach moments of the day were the Randy Moss drop in the endzone and the Witten fumble on the 1. I only had Romo going for me on that second one, so it wasn’t quite as bad. TO was really my only bust of the day, and I put up 177 pending Reggie Wayne. I believe he already had a TD, so I guess I’m a little higher than that now. I’d be interested to hear how others did. I took in the late afternoon games from a sports bar.

4 weeks to go. This is definitely the time to start getting aggressive. There are big rewards for getting into the top 1-4, top 10, and top 100. If you are just outside of any of these groups you’ll want to start getting bold (but don’t go crazy).

My schedule is a little different this week, so the early projections will be released this evening. There’s a ton of great discussion already going on in the comments area though.

Well, it was a bit of feast or famine last night. I had Romo and Owens so I’m feeling pretty good. Tough break on Favre for those of you who had him. Just remember that he’s only one guy out of ten on your team. I think it seems worse than it is just because the rest of your players haven’t gone yet to balance him out.

Was anyone else just sick when Owens gave up that pick though? I mean it’s tough to complain to a guy who put up those numbers for you, but that was a brutal swing points-wise for those playing Romo and TO.

I’ll have some updated projections for you guys before free-trade Saturday. I’m not sure yet if I’m going to have those this afternoon or tomorrow morning.
